Nowadays, the collection and evaluation of data usually fails not because data
is not available, but because the utilized software is not designed for data
of high complexity or changing data structures.  The software toolkit
LinkAhead focuses on these requirements and is thus the ideal companion for
the transition to Industry 4.0.

LinkAhead was originally developed at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics
and Self-Organization in Göttingen and enables data management where classic
databases are far too rigid and inflexible.  When requirements change due to
new framework conditions, upgraded equipment or changing customer wishes, the
adaptation of conventional data management systems is often costly and time-
consuming.  With LinkAhead, on the other hand, these modifications are built
into the design and can be easily carried out at any time.

With practical examples, this presentation shows the advantages of
professional data management, even in rapidly changing areas that have
previously been unable to benefit from such systems.
